King Felipe VI awards the medal of the Order for Civil Merit to MP's head of Central and Eastern Europe, Álvaro Rein Lorenzale.
The honour was presented by the Spanish Ambassador to Austria, His Excellency Alberto Carnero, in a ceremony held on 19 June at the Spanish Embassy in Vienna.
According to the statutes of the Order, this honour is awarded "to recognise merit of a civil nature, achieved by people who do not form part of government, and who provide or have provided important services to the State, through outstanding work, beneficial initiatives, or with exemplary dedication to the fulfilment of their duties". This is precisely the reason, in the words of the Spanish Ambassador in Vienna, that His Majesty the King has seen fit to bestow the Order of Civil Merit on Álvaro Rein who, since 18 years, has devoted himself to his country in something as painstaking as helping to ensure the success of a Spanish, industrial, Seville-based company in Europe.
As the Ambassador stated, "The Merit is due to, presumably among many other things, the work, dedication and enthusiasm displayed by Álvaro Rein, who is not only devoted to his company but also to something that we especially appreciate at this embassy, namely that he helps other Spanish companies, through the Hispanic-Austrian Chamber of Business, and with all the initiatives that we put to him, because Álvaro is a person of outstanding enthusiasm and generosity."
Álvaro expressed his wish to share his medal, saying that it was "a reflection of the sheer merit of the shareholders, customers and employees of MP, more than 1,000 enthusiastic workers spread throughout the world who are fully committed to their work".
Meanwhile, in the royal palace in Madrid, His Majesty the King bestowed the Order of Civil Merit on another 38 people in a ceremony in which he stated, "The example you set is extraordinary, since it is founded on values such as sacrifice and effort, merit and excellence, honesty, loyalty, the spirit of constructiveness and overcoming obstacles, as well as solidarity and achievement."
At MP, we would like to express our most sincere congratulations to our colleague!
